Vphone Terms of Use
Established: October 7, 2026 Last revised: November 6, 2026
These Terms set out the rules for using Vphone (a phone that you attach to your VRChat avatar, an app for Windows, and a relay server that delivers messages; together, the "Service"). By registering in the app, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who can use the Service
- You must be 13 or older to use the Service. If you are under 18, please use it with the consent of your parent or guardian.
- Please follow the VRChat Terms of Service when you use the Service. The Service is an unofficial tool and is not affiliated with VRChat Inc.
2. Accounts
- One account per person.
- Do not use words that hurt others, or names that impersonate others, in your display name, in the greeting on your profile, in group names, or in event names and schedules.
- Do not transfer or lend your account to anyone else.
- You can delete your account at any time with "Delete account…" in the Vphone window.
3. Prohibited conduct
- Violating laws or regulations, or anything connected with crime
- Harassment, threats, stalking, discriminatory remarks, or sending sexual content that the other person does not want
- Repeatedly sending advertising or solicitations (spam)
- Sending other people's personal information without their consent
- Using other people's display names or attendance records that you learned through an event for any purpose other than running the event
- Recording, filming or streaming a call without the consent of the other person in the call
- Impersonating others
- Putting an excessive load on the servers, accessing them without authorization, or interfering with the operation of the Service
- Redistributing or selling the app or the avatar data that we distribute (except passing on a 2-person or 5-person set as allowed in section 5)
- Anything else similar to the items above
4. Unfriending, reporting, and actions by the operator
- You can unfriend (remove from your friends) and report unwanted users from the app.
- When you unfriend someone, you are removed from each other's friend lists and can no longer send each other messages. To become friends again, one of you has to send a request with a friend code and the other has to accept it, or you both have to press “Befriend someone nearby” one after the other in the same VRChat instance.
- If you do not want to receive voice calls, set your status to “Ask me” or “Busy”; you will then not receive calls from your friends.
- In a group, messages are delivered to all members, and your display name is visible to members who are not your friends. To join a group, you have to accept an invitation.
- “Befriend someone nearby” makes friends of the two people who press the button one after the other in the same VRChat instance. If someone else presses it around the same time, you may become friends with someone you did not expect. In that case, you can unfriend them.
- Group admins can remove members. If a member is causing trouble, tell an admin or leave the group.
- When you join an event, the host can see your display name and attendance record. If you leave the event, your record for that event (including stamps) is deleted.
- The operator may, without prior notice, suspend the use of the Service by, or delete the accounts of, users who violate these Terms.
- The operator does not look at the content of messages (see the Privacy Policy). Reports are handled based on what is written in the report and on the records kept on the server.
5. Distributed materials
- The rights to the app and the avatar data (the "Distributed Materials") belong to the operator or to their rightful owners.
- You may use the Distributed Materials by adding them to your own avatar and using that avatar in VRChat. Uploading such an avatar to VRChat and using it is fine.
- You may modify them for your own use.
- You may not redistribute or sell the Distributed Materials, either as they are or modified.
- However, with a 2-person or 5-person set, you may give the Distributed Materials and the order number to the people who will use them with you, up to the number of people the set can register (2 or 5, including yourself). The people who receive them may not pass them on to anyone else.
- Third-party software and fonts included in the Distributed Materials are subject to their own licenses.
6. Trial (test) versions
- Versions under testing contain bugs. Their features may change, or they may stop working, without notice.
- For testing purposes, we may erase account and friend information.
- Feedback and bug reports that you send us will be used to improve the Service.
7. Changes, suspension, and termination of the Service
- The operator may change the Service or suspend it temporarily without notice.
- Camera translation is limited to 20 photos per person per day (the count starts over at 9:00 Japan time). The translation feature and this limit may be changed or discontinued without notice.
- The relay server runs on services provided by other companies, so it may be temporarily unavailable because of outages or heavy usage.
- If the Service is to end, we will announce it as early as possible (as a rule, at least one month in advance) on this page, on Discord, on X, or elsewhere.
8. Disclaimer
- The Service may stop working because of changes to VRChat or for other reasons.
- Messages and calls may not arrive, may be delayed or may be cut off, and data may be lost. Please do not use the Service for important communications.
- In camera translation, both reading the text in the photo and translating it are done by machine, so text may be misread or mistranslated. Do not rely on translations for important decisions. Any decision you make based on a translation is your own responsibility.
- Any promise of rewards or the like tied to event stamps or attendance records is between the host and the attendees. The operator is not responsible for such promises.
- You cannot make emergency calls (such as 110 or 119 in Japan) with the Service's calls.
- If a user suffers damage caused by the operator's intent or gross negligence, the operator will compensate for that damage.
- If a user suffers damage caused by the operator's ordinary negligence (negligence other than gross negligence), the operator will compensate only for the direct and ordinary damage actually incurred, up to the amount that the user paid to purchase the Service. This limit applies only to damage caused by the operator's ordinary negligence.
9. Changes to these Terms
When we change these Terms, we will announce the content of the change and the date on which it takes effect on this page before that date (and, where appropriate, also in the app, on Discord, or on X). Changes that are disadvantageous to users will be announced with sufficient time before they take effect. If you use the Service after the change takes effect, you are deemed to have agreed to the revised Terms.
10. Governing law, jurisdiction, and language
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The court having jurisdiction over the operator's place of residence shall have exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance over any dispute relating to the Service.
These Terms are written in Japanese. Translations into other languages are provided for reference only; if a translation differs from the Japanese text, the Japanese text prevails.
